ZTP was in Lisbon for the WebSummit this week !
Quick review before to go deeper :
In numbers : 70 000 attendees, 2 000 startups and more than 22 000 steps a day…
But, more important, 3 insights :
First, tech is in a bit of trouble (centralization, fake news…) and needs to buy itself a new virginity : be more concerned about people, build things that have real value for them, sustainable, decentralized so people can keep control of their life.
Second insight, this WebSummit was really crowded with females, on stage, on the booths and on the alleys. And this is great, a good presage for the first point !
3rd point : The importance of digital is no longer to be demonstrated and skills related to this sector are snapping up. New fact: instead of learning people to build skills, several start-ups offer non-technicians tools to create applications or websites. Notably thanks to artificial intelligence. A major trend if it manages to make the digital key professions accessible to the many.
To be more focused about ZTP’s matters : most of the startups were in the B2B : it’s hard to go in the b2c for a startup… First thing is that you need cash to be able to build an audience. Are startups addressing the b2c the most valuables as they really try to solve people problems ? That reminds me a certain proximity with traditional retail….
Also, we now have to take care of people, not fool them, with promotions, fake loyalty. There is no loyalty from a customer, only attachment to products and maybe values.
Be transparent and offer a real relationship, build strong communities. Tech enables to do so quite easily, you need to find the right partners.
