Fashion waste is really catching  my attention nowadays (see my article about H&M in our previous newsletter) and this innovation created by the british startup Metail could be a part of the solution.
Their platform’s solution to the size and fit problem is called MeModel and is designed in order to be used by both shoppers and retailers.. MeModel takes a few measurements from customers and uses its machine-learning algorithm to suggest accurate and personalized style and size recommendations. For retailers, MeModel provides data analysis to help maximise inventory and supply chain efficiency and to help boost brand loyalty with insight into customer preferences. A relevant solution to reduce fabric waste.
Yelp recently made an interesting study telling us that the experience quality is far more important than what you eat at a restaurant to give a five stars review on their platform : for one 5 stars mention talking about taste, you have 13 talking about great service (and 4 about good price).
Another interesting fact : 75% of reviews mentioning a good service are 5 stars reviews and 76% mentioning bad service are 1 star reviews.
Of course, we’re talking about food and restaurants where the experience really matters but it’s interesting to point this and is certainly applicable to your industry. Go and check out your reviews to confirm that trend !
Go Sport to set up their operations in India
The growing appetite for Indian regarding Sport is not a debate anymore.
For years Indian was not a market mature enough for this category… but it has drastically changed in the last couple of years.
To illustrate this, I will never forget the Juhu beach (Mumbai) morning walk I used to have around 20 years ago vs the one of this year. Thousand of people with their sport gears on that morning to run, walk, practice yoga etc…
Indian people are not only conscious sport is good for their health, but they like it more and more.
Hence one of the key reason of the success of Decathlon in India.
With 70 stores across India, Decathlon is leading the game ahead of powerful brand like Nike, Puma, Adidas to name some of them.
Decathlon success is also regarding their ability to make sport accessible for all, and the make in India strategy. It allows them to be right in their price positioning. I mean to seduce Indian consumers that are really keen on having access to competitive price.
Go Sport wants to bite his piece of this market and has recently open its first store in India (Mumbai).
The question is the following: will Indian consumers wants to pay premium for international Brands on a very regular basis?
